A professor arrested in 1997 for passing students in exchange for luxury household goods has received a two-year suspended sentence on condition that he returns silver, crystal and porcelain valued at e66,000 (Pounds 40,000). Carlo De Montemajor, a professor of scientific English at the University of Florence, was known as the "teacup professor" because of his partiality to English china.
