The Wellcome Trust expects more than 50 applications from university biological and medical science departments for the first round of the Pounds 600 million Joint Infrastructure Fund, which closes this week. With bids due in today, the Wellcome Trust, which is managing the biological side of the fund, asked those intending to apply to contact them in advance. Feedback suggests there are likely to be about 50 applications, with bids ranging from Pounds 850,000 to Pounds million. The majority of these early bids are thought to be from single universities.
