Extra Pounds 5.5m to be shared by 252 colleges

The government has announced an extra Pounds 5.5 million for further education. The funds have been spread thinly, between 252 colleges, who will use the grants to run summer schools for basic skills courses. It also announced the allocation of Pounds 60 million to set up 120 Centres of Excellence for IT and technology, as promised in the budget.
