CORDIS, the European Community's Research and Development Information Service, has added the profiles of 18 Euratom fission projects to its fully searchable Projects service for the Sixth Framework Programme for research (FP6).
The service hosts a description and contact details for each project funded under the three FP6 Euratom activity areas on fission; with seven on the management of radioactive waste, four concerning radiation protection; and seven falling under 'other activities in the field of nuclear technologies and safety'. The newly published projects have all been confirmed for launch and were selected following the close of the first call for proposals in this programme in May 2003.
The information is accessible via full text search, as well as being fully searchable by the country of the coordinating organisation, FP6 activity area or instrument type. The selected projects include two Networks of Excellence and six Integrated Projects with a total funding of almost 67 million euro.
Projects belonging to the Information Society Technologies (IST) programme and those carried out by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) are already available on the Projects service. The service also provides access to FP6 project news and success stories. Links to other parts of the CORDIS FP6 service provide step-by-step guides to FP6 and advice on managing a project.
Project details are published on CORDIS after the negotiation and signature of contracts between the European Commission and consortia. This follows the publication of calls for proposals and the selection procedure, whereby potential projects are selected by the European Commission to be partly financed with European Union funding. Projects under other activity areas will be published regularly over the coming weeks and months as they are made available by the European Commission.
