Caroline JACKSON (EPP-ED, South West) for the Environment Committee will be recommending that Parliament approve the Council's common position without amendment. The aim of the directive is to amend current EU legislation (directive 86/609/EEC ) on the protection of animals used for experiments, and to bring it into line with the Council of Europe Convention.
