Three institutions have merged to form one professional engineering institution representing incorporated engineers and engineering technicians. The new Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE) covers the electronic, electrical and mechanical engineering sectors. The merged institutions are the Institution of Electronics and Electrical Incorporated Engineers, the Institution of Mechanical Incorporated Engineers and the Institute of Engineers and Technicians.
