Modern science utilises a range of advanced instrumental techniques and progress is often dependent upon the availability of state-of-the-art equipment. This call for proposals provides an opportunity for investigators to request support for the development of novel instrumentation not currently commercially available. Through the provision of such instrumentation EPSRC hopes to enable advances in research that cannot be obtained using existing equipment. For the purposes of this call, instrument development is defined as the creation of a new prototype instrument with capabilities that are substantially different from or improved over those currently available commercially.
