Employers approve traineeships

National Traineeships, which replaced the failed Youth Training programme two years ago, are meeting the needs of a large number of employers, according to a new survey. It found that 89 per cent of the 200 employers questioned would recommend the traineeships to other employers. NT frameworks are designed by industry and lead to National Vocational Qualification level 2. Education and employment minister George Mudie (below) said the traineeships were an "integral part of the provision for post-16 training and education. So far over 30,000 NTs have started and we plan to achieve 100,000 overall in the year 2000".
