Eastwood goes East

Congratulations to David Eastwood, who has just been appointed vice-chancellor of the University of East Anglia. Professor Eastwood, a modern historian, is currently chief executive of the Arts and Humanities Research Board. He is due to take up his new post in September.

Superbugs, super drugs A husband-and-wife team from the University of Manchester are set to become millionaires in a stock-market flotation of their spin-off company, Neutec. James Burnie and Ruth Matthews together own 16 per cent of the firm; the university has a 15 per cent stake. The company is expected to be valued at £20 million on the Alternative Investment Market.
