East London - It's not all bad

The lives of young people growing up in Newham, Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest are revealed in a new book. Anthony Gunter, senior lecturer in criminology and criminal justice at the University of East London, is author of the ethnographic study, Growing Up Bad. He said he wanted to present "another side to the youth in East London, one that was different from the general media portrayal of stigmatised and marginalised young black men. Most of them are not murderers or gun-toting drug dealers."
