Durham University - Bob's your uncle

一月 7, 2010

Local youngsters with the ability but not the means to study at Durham University are to benefit from a £1 million donation to a scholarship scheme. The donation from local entrepreneur Bob Young is the largest in the university's history. It will give students the chance to read any of the university's 191 undergraduate subjects without the burden of tuition fees, course costs and living expenses. Chris Higgins, vice-chancellor, said: "I'm confident Bob's gift will permanently and positively impact the lives of those students in County Durham who qualify." The Robert Young Scholarships, which stretch to a maximum of £10,000 a year, should fund at least one student through the university every year for the next 32 years.
