A German visa scandal has thwarted plans by 29 Ukrainian exchange students to attend classes at the Technical University in Dresden to improve their knowledge and understanding of the German language. In the face of public anger over an allegedly overgenerous visa policy covering immigrants from Ukraine and other countries of the former Soviet Union, the students and their lecturer were refused entry to Germany.
