Drama gets 10% rise in government support

Dance and drama will receive an extra 10 per cent in fees after the government this week accepted the findings of a review by PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Higher education minister Margaret Hodge said: "Dance and drama providers are delivering high-quality training, embracing new qualifications and delivering fair access based on talent rather than the ability to pay - but they are struggling to cover their costs."

She said that by raising support by an average of 10 per cent, the government was covering the full cost of the training.
