Censorship or charity? Scotland's hacks were treated to a live broadcast of Gordon Brown's comprehensive spending review speech at the Scottish Office in Edinburgh. But when the chancellor finished, Scottish secretary Donald Dewar leapt to his feet, ending the link, explaining: "Mr Gordon Brown, larger than life. I have mercifully decided to spare you Mr Francis Maude's reply."
