Brussels, 11 February 2002

CORDIS, the European Commission's Research and Development Information Service, is providing a new service dedicated to national and EU-funded research in Germany.

Developed jointly by CORDIS and the EU bureau of the German Federal Ministry of education and research (BMBF), the service provides a comprehensive picture of Germany's innovation-related policies, infrastructures, services and initiatives. It aims to support exchanges between the European Union and Germany in the fields of innovation and the fledgling European research area (ERA). Users can find information on national and local organisations, links to key contacts and news.

The service introduces the research scene, major establishments (the Blue List) supported by the Federal government and States with a special focus on education. In addition, the site offers in-depth coverage of Germany's participation in European projects, including a selection of more than 3,500 projects involving German organisations. Detailed and searchable information is available on German participation in current and former programmes. The service also gives access to German positions and contributions in current discussions on the future of the European research.

The service, available in English and German, will prove useful for local stakeholders and innovation actors seeking information on German technology and partners.
