The Diary has had its knuckles rapped for suggesting that the re-creation of a wedding at a motorway service station did not constitute research. Apparently, it failed to locate the "wedding" in the context of the broader research inquiry.

Readers might be interested to note that a body called Practice as Research in Performance, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Board, exists to explore knowledge production outside normal scientific paradigms.

Meanwhile, last week a couple really did get married at Newport Pagnell services on the M1. Does this contribute towards a PhD? The Diary is confused.
