Conference to focus on intellectual property e-business

The first annual epoline conference, which will provide up to date information on the latest developments in intellectual property e-business, will take place in Nice, France, on 3 to 5 December.

Organised by the European Patent Office, the event will offer workshops on the range of epoline electronic products and services as well as theoretical training on various aspects of the patent granting procedure. The event will also take a look at the impact of the changing role of intellectual property.

Session topics include creating an efficient market in ideas, making the patent world more democratic through the Internet, online filing of European patent applications, how to carry out a transfer of rights and litigation.

Representatives from the European Patent Office and from industry will make presentations at the event. Tim Sebastian from BBC World will also attend the event, and will act as master of ceremonies for a panel discussion on 3 December.
