Conference: new technologies and smart textiles for industry and fashion -- London, 11/12 October

六月 27, 2006

Brussels, 26 Jun 2006

On 11 and 12 October the Institute of Nanotechnology in the UK will hold a conference in London on the application of nanotechnologies in industry and fashion.

Many exciting new nanotechnologies are being incorporated into textiles for fashion and industrial applications. These range from embedded scents, stay-clean fabrics and clothes with antibacterial action, to extra-strong fabrics that are even able to withstand the impact of a bullet.

As part of the 'peace dividend' from military research, many new textiles are also being developed, from those that promote faster healing of patients recovering from surgical procedures to fabrics that enhance health and well being in the ageing population.

Conference themes will include the 'fashion paradox' - how nanotechnology can support fashion while addressing sustainability concerns and the reduction of waste.
