Commonwealth call

八月 4, 2000

Baroness Scotland, Foreign Office minister, has launched an internet-based campaign to find out what British citizens feel about the future of the Commonwealth.

Baroness Scotland said at the recent launch of a dedicated email address for people to contribute their views that one of the goals of the campaign was to strengthen the Commonwealth by improving the prosperity of its members and cooperation.

"We want to open the debate to members of our civil society and the private sector. We have set up an electronic point of contact for anyone who wishes to feed ideas into our thinking. I would particularly like to attract comments from our young people and students, the Commonwealth's next generation, to see what the Commonwealth might mean to them."
