Sri Lanka's Sri Jayawardhanapura University has reopened with a government-devised security system. The university was closed for eight weeks after the second political murder of a student. A security and disciplinary committee has listed 70 issues responsible for the endemic unrest, including a lack of proper security and disciplinary systems, academic stress, inadequate recreational and other welfare facilities, and a lack of hostel accommodation.
