College girls miffed at axing

十月 11, 2002

The decision to cancel the fifth episode of College Girls , the Channel 4 documentary on students at the all-women's Oxford college of St Hilda's, has angered the students who took part.

Ruth Hunt, the junior common-room president who came out as a lesbian in the cancelled episode, said: "That episode was important not just because I came out in it but because it was the one in which the referendum on whether St Hilda's should stay all-women was shown. The analytical framework for the whole series was in that episode."

Channel 4 executives cut the episode because of poor ratings.
