City University London - New media blitz Berlin

十一月 19, 2009

A project launched to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall has captured seven days of live coverage of the occasion. The Berlin Project was set up by Marcus Gilroy-Ware, a visiting lecturer at City University London's Graduate School of Journalism, with the help of university alumni. It aimed to demonstrate innovation in journalism using free social media services such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The five-person team broadcast live from sites across the city using such devices as iPhones, Nokia smartphones and iPods, configured to feed content straight on to the project's website. George Brock, City's new head of journalism, said reporting via social media "had the potential to be a powerful way of delivering news to the public as it actually happens".
