Business savvy prized higher than a degree

A degree is no longer enough for graduates to compete for jobs in the capital, with most London employers valuing experience and generic business skills more highly, a study has found.

Half of workers in central London have a degree-level qualification and 73 per cent of employers say they rate graduates' experience as more valuable than their qualification.

The findings of the study, conducted by central London TEC Focus, South Bank University, the University of North London, London Guildhall University and the University of Westminster, were presented to higher education minister Baroness Blackstone this week.
