* British subject centres are forging links with their transatlantic cousins to exchange ideas on widening participation in higher education and its implications for teaching.
Representatives from 12 subject centres met their counterparts from 26 US disciplinary associations in Washington last month. The meeting was organised by the American Association for Higher Education and the UK's Learning and Teaching Support Network and Generic Centre.
