Bonn conference to examine enlargement and research funding

Brussels, 7 February 2002

Research Director General Achilleas Mitsos will attend a conference focusing on 'European enlargement: new opportunities for research funding' in Bonn, Germany, on 7 March.

The aim of the conference is to begin a dialogue and give new impetus to cooperation in the field of European research. Discussion topics include cooperation with Central and Eastern Europe in the Sixth Framework programme for research (FP6) and ways to intensify cooperation and researcher mobility in an enlarged Europe.

Representatives from research, business, the European Commission and the German government will participate in the conference.
