Poor Sean Connery, allegedly vetoed for a knighthood by Labour because of his support for the Scottish National Party, can at least be sure of one impending honour. He has been invited to Glasgow University in June to receive an honorary DLitt. Glasgow has also invited Scottish secretary Donald Dewar to receive an honorary LLD at the same ceremony, seen in some quarters as particularly appropriate, given his new soubriquet of Dr No.
