Blow to fall clinics

Fall prevention clinics for older people may be a waste of time and money, researchers have found. A team at Warwick University's Medical School reviewed 19 programmes in eight countries with more than 6,000 participants. They found no clear reduction in the number of people suffering at least one fall, the number of injuries or the burden on medical services. The researchers concluded that higher intensity interventions rather than information and referral may be more effective.
