Universities from China's richer eastern regions are sending thousands of volunteer graduates to help develop the country's poorer western provinces. Rich universities such as Nankai and Tianjin are linking with poorer universities such as Xinjiang and Shihezi to accelerate agricultural and technological development in Tibet and Inner Mongolia.
