Bar Council attacked

The head of the College of Law has criticised the Bar Council for its failure to support trainees through Bar school. "I am disappointed but not surprised," said Nigel Savage. "The legal profession in this country has never been very good at employing or supporting poorer students."

Last month, the Bar abandoned plans to levy a "Robin Hood" tax on high-earning barristers to help pay for the less well-off to qualify.
