But Mr Sheerman has also been accused of "going ballistic" and wagging his finger at one of his committee members, the Tory MP Nadine Dorries. Ms Dorries has called for him to stand down and has claimed he took umbrage at a question about special needs she asked without his prior approval. Mr Sheerman dismissed her comments as "wild allegations" and denied any wrongdoing.
