Axe falls on faculty

Fine art students at Lincoln University are protesting today following news that their degree is being axed along with 12 staff out of the current faculty of 13.

"How can we be expected to complete the final year of our degree with such a depleted staff?" asked Garry McEwan, a student on the course.

Lecturers' union Natfhe said recruitment to the BA in fine art had been suspended without informing staff. The university confirmed that redundancies would be sought in posts that had already been identified as "at risk" as a result of a strategic review begun two years ago.
