Anti-smokers call for boycott of open day

三月 16, 2001

An anti-smoking group is urging would-be students to boycott Nottingham University's open day this weekend in protest over its acceptance of donations from the tobacco industry.

Students for Action on Smoking and Health has launched a publicity campaign to bring the university's decision to accept £3.8 million from British American Tobacco to the attention of potential applicants.

The move follows an invitation-only debate staged by Nottingham last week, which was addressed by vice-chancellor Sir Colin Campbell, to allow academics to rehearse the arguments for and against accepting the BAT money.
