Anglia Ruskin University - Key medical centre planned

七月 9, 2009

Research and training in keyhole surgery is to receive a significant boost from plans for a new centre in Colchester. The project is a joint partnership between Anglia Ruskin University and Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust. Keyhole, or laparoscopic, surgery offers advantages over traditional surgery, with smaller incisions resulting in less post-operative pain, less bleeding and a lower risk of infection. The £1.5 million centre will have up-to-date instrumentation and computers for the simulation of surgery, and will be built next to the hospital's postgraduate medical centre. It is scheduled to be completed by autumn 2010.
