At last a use for all the material that never made it into the research assessment exercise? This week the Friends of Dundee University's botanic garden organised a lecture by "alternative" floral designer Jan Norman, who revealed that her floral arrangements rely more on "driftwood, sculpture and artefacts" than the expected ingredients. "The more complex the design, the less I use flowers," she said.
