The head of the oldest law school in Wales has said that universities have a major role to play in policy development in the country and in other devolved administrations. John Williams, head of the law and criminology department at Aberystwyth University, told politicians and lawyers gathered in Cardiff last week that the creation of the Welsh Assembly had produced a new legislative environment in Wales. This had bolstered demand for lawyers, including academics, with an understanding of the evolving constitution.
