Southern bias in the BBC will accelerate in May when a new programme, In the Blood, repeats an experiment originally conducted by Francis Galton in the 19th century. Galton devised a scale of attractiveness and travelled round the United Kingdom rating women on it. He found the ugliest women in Aberdeen and the most beautiful in South Kensington.
Geneticist Steve Jones told the Royal Society last week that in the BBC's repeat experiment they found the ugliest women to reside in . . . Aberdeen and the most beautiful in, well, South Kensington.
