A very public address

Stephen White, director of information at the British Psychological Society, is a keen member of the online science communication mailing list pcsi.com. So keen on passing on information is he that, when he received a message from the list sent by colleague (and presumably former friend) Jill Nelson, director of science communication at the British Association, he sent his reply to everyone on the list. Unfortunately, it was somewhat of a personal nature.

He said: "What's going on on the Chief Exec front? When is your interview and when can I formally congratulate you on your rise to 'high office'?"

Her reply, also sent to the entire list, was: "Well thanks a bunch for that Stephen. I hope everyone enjoyed it. I'll do the same for you some time."

Nelson's caution is justified - the final interviews are in April.
