A quick turnover down under

Bryan Gould, who famously turned his back on British politics in 1992, is to step down as vice-chancellor of New Zealand's Waikato University next year. His departure will leave Stuart McCutcheon, who has been at Victoria just two years, as the country's longest-serving vice-chancellor. The Kiwi turnover has been near total in the past 24 months. Frank Wood retired this month from Lincoln, citing health reasons. At the end of the year, John Hinchcliffe leaves the Auckland University of Technology and Graeme Fogelberg leaves Otago. John Hood leaves Auckland for Oxford in October 2004. Massey and Canterbury have both got new vice-chancellors this year.
