A degree of foolishness

The recent case of transsexual Scottish solicitor Alexandra MacRae, who admitted to embezzling more than Pounds 16,000, left unanswered the question of how the police managed to track her down after she disappeared. This presumably had no connection with the fact that she had contacted Edinburgh University for a copy of her degree certificate. A degree would be almost worthless if graduates on the lam were foolish enough to engage in correspondence revealing the address of their hideouts. Possibly she should have read logic as well as law.
