Well here I am bivouacing in the middle of the Highlands of Scotland (can't be more precise because we're on a nine-hour cross-country Power Orienteering course tomorrow and no map references are allowed).
As I said to you on Graduation Day when you were washing up the glasses I didn't exactly relish giving up my usual holiday in Brittany for a three-week Management in a Changing Society course in Perthshire, but I couldn't have been more mistaken. On the very first day we all had to stand up one by one in front of our senior course tutor (a very enthusiastic young American called Chuck Slammers) and admit to any deep-down anxieties we had about the course. I said that quite frankly I'd rather be in Brittany and the whole class applauded me for my honesty. Most gratifying.
Since then I've hardly looked back. I've already completed modules in Dynamic Leadership, Creative Teamwork, Bio-Energetic Feedback, Proactive Empowerment, Emphatic Listening and Positive Social Interaction (apparently many of the failures we've had in communication over the years - such as your mistaken belief that I lost the first-year examination results - were due to faulty eye-contact).
Must rush now or I'll be late for the Maximising Motivation in which Chuck is going to walk across hot coals without any shoes using only the power of his mind. By the way, talking about Proactive Empowerment, would you be an absolute love and knock out some sort of departmental Mission Statement and pop it in the post to the V.C. Quite slipped my mind at the end of term.
