Wrongs and writes 3

My friend Andrew Linzey has helped to break an often pervasive and corrupting silence within mainstream Anglicanism about homosexuality.

My impression is that the bishops are mainly concerned to "hold the Communion together" at whatever cost.

The "mammonites" in Dallas and other wealthy areas, and the fundamentalists in Nigeria (who do not represent all African Christians) should be left to worship their God, but the Anglican churches should not be seduced, by their wealth or their loud voices, into collusion with bigotry and prejudice.

That hostility to homosexuality - on which, as Linzey points out, neither Jesus nor the creeds or any major articles of faith have anything to say - should be misconstruedJas orthodoxy is bizarre. This is not orthodoxy but pathology, bordering on lunacy. This kind of thing has happened too often in relation to racism and the oppression of women. Surely we should have learnt our lessons by now.
