Science is needed 2

Mike Hulme argues persuasively that all sections of society must come together to address the challenges posed by climate change and that the challenges themselves go far beyond issues of science and engineering.

It is undoubtedly the case that there are critical political, cultural and social issues to be tackled. But I imagine that all the potential solutions will require a major contribution from engineers. The technologies they create and the developments they identify to make existing technologies more cost competitive will be central to securing a sustainable future.

Perhaps Hulme could emphasise that they will be a central part of the solution?
