Letter: In brief (3)

七月 27, 2001

Ann Oakley gives a clue as to why the life of a university lecturer has become so miserable (Soapbox, THES , July 20). Educationists are remorselessly turning education into centralised processing with the bureaucratisation of ideas. For example, the idea of "evidence" is transformed into an Evidence for Policy and Practice Information and Coordinating Centre, whose "findings" will doubtless be taken up by "teaching and learning" committees and transformed into "guidelines" for all lecturers.
