Disappointing deal 2

六月 23, 2006

During the bitter dispute between staff and university management it became increasingly obvious that vice-chancellors were prepared to sacrifice professional standards and undermine academic values by allowing students to graduate with incomplete marks. It is a national disgrace that they were prepared to ignore recommendations from the Quality Assurance Agency and advice from external examiners, as well as threaten the legal governance of universities.

In addition to an independent review of funding, I hope the Government will support a review of actions taken by vice-chancellors; actions that would have undermined the reputation of UK higher education.
