Backwards thinking

十二月 10, 2004

It was wrong and mischievous to say that Brian Cantor's remarks on restructuring "followed last week's furore" over plans to cut departments in other universities ("York v-c slams his peers for haste in axeing subjects", December 3).

Professor Cantor's comments on the various factors that have led to York University's success were made during a conversation with your reporter on November 12.

The other falsehood lies in the headline. Professor Cantor's comments were reflections on York's situation - not on the situation anywhere else.
