Leader: A post-Randall rethink needed

John Randall's departure from the Quality Assurance Agency has unleashed a flood of suggestions for improving quality assurance in higher education. These go beyond the present consultation exercise and more than justify Lewis Elton's suggestion that the proposals be withdrawn to allow Mr Randall's successor more scope. The THES has long taken an interest in quality issues. Our pages are open to all suggestions and we will be pulling together views as they develop in the next crucial weeks.
