Here, Margaret Harris has challenged the usual format of textbooks and readers. Her book contains two introductory chapters, and these are followed by four further lengthy chapters that each contain three or four published articles. Most of the pages contain one or more short annotations/comments about the research article. As is written in the preface, students who want to read original articles often find this type of commentary extremely useful. Given the prevalent moan about "they don't read journals like they did in my day", this book is to be very much welcomed.
Who is it for? Undergraduates and postgraduates interested in developmental psychology.
Presentation - Black and white, but lively use of formatting.
Would you recommend it? Much more useful than a conventional reader; the articles could provide topics for discussion in seminars.
