This week's competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from an epistolary novel criticised for indecency:

"I am extremely concerned, my dearest friend, for the disturbances that have happened in your family."

The winner receives a £25 book voucher.

The closing date is February 28.

The winner of last week's competition, who identified Elizabeth Barrett Browning's Aurora Leigh , was Rachel Foxley, of the School of History at Reading University.
