This week's competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from a Nobel prizewinning physicist with a sceptical interest in philosophy:

"The origin of the universe is explained in the Younger Edda, a collection of Norse myths compiled around 1220 by the Icelandic magnate Snorri Sturleson."

The winner receives a £25 Blackwell's voucher. The closing date is July 22.
