This week's competition, in which you have to identify a book from its opening sentence, is from a controversial polemical work exploring male power and domination:

"The power of men is first a metaphysical assertion of self, an I am that exists a priori, bedrock, absolute, no embellishment or apology required, indifferent to denial or challenge."

The winner receives a £20 book token and
the closing date is February 9.
